Welcome to CycloSense, your trusted cycling safety app. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information within our bike safety app, including our integrated GPS ride tracker and cloud-based safe cycling features.

1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

• Location Data: With your permission, we use location tracking via GPS to record your riding route, distance, and speed.
• Cloud Synchronization Data: When the optional "Ride Guardian" feature is enabled, your real-time coordinates, rider profile, and emergency contact details are transmitted to our secure cloud servers for active ride monitoring.
• Sensor Data: We use accelerometer data to monitor for sudden movements to trigger safety alerts.
• Profile Information: We store your name, email, and emergency contact details to provide communication features and safety alerts.

2. PURPOSE OF DATA COLLECTION

The collected data is used exclusively to provide core app functionalities, including ride monitoring, location tracking, safety alerts, and Ride Guardian cloud-based emergency alerts. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising purposes.

3. DATA STORAGE & SECURITY

Your permanent riding history is stored locally on your device. When using the Ride Guardian feature, your active ride status and location are temporarily processed on our secure cloud servers to enable automated safety alerts and emergency contact notifications if you are unable to respond. This transient data is retained only as long as necessary to provide the service and is not shared with third parties except as required for emergency alerting.

4. APP OPERATION & NETWORK REQUIREMENTS

To ensure stable GPS tracking, accurate sensor monitoring, and reliable Ride Guardian alerts, this app is recommended to remain in the foreground with the screen on during your ride. Background operation may be restricted by system battery optimizations. An active internet connection is required for Ride Guardian features to sync and alert correctly.

5. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

This app uses Google Maps SDK and Directions API. Use of these services is subject to Google's Privacy Policy. Cloud features are powered by Cloudflare to support backend stability.

6. PERMISSIONS

• Location: Required for ride tracking and safety monitoring.
• Sensors: Required for impact and stillness detection.
• Vibration: Used for safety alerts.
• Internet: Required for map data, route planning, and cloud safety synchronization.

7. DATA DELETION & YOUR RIGHTS

Under privacy regulations like GDPR and CCPA, you have the right to access, rectify, or delete your data, or withdraw consent at any time. We provide multiple ways to exercise these rights:

• In-App Deletion: You can clear all local and cloud records through the "Delete Profile" option in the app's Profile settings. This action will immediately trigger a synchronized purge of your personal details, emergency contacts, and ride history from our secure cloud servers.
• Web-based Request: If you no longer have the app installed, you may request the deletion of your account and all associated data by sending an email to our support team.
• Data Retention: Once a deletion request is processed, your data is permanently purged from our active databases and cannot be recovered.

8. SECURITY & VERIFICATION

To ensure the validity of emergency communication channels, we employ email verification via One-Time Passwords (OTP). We also implement security rate-limiting on our communication interfaces to prevent abuse and ensure service availability for all users.

9. SAFETY RESPONSIBILITY

CycloSense is a supportive safety tool and not a replacement for professional medical or emergency response services. You remain responsible for your safety while cycling, and must follow applicable traffic laws and maintain awareness of your surroundings.

10. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect product changes or legal requirements. You are advised to review this page periodically. Continued use of the app signifies acceptance of the updated terms.
